Your code is yours

Plenty of QR sites give you a code for free, then switch it off when you stop paying. Not this one.

  • Never expires

It's a static code: what you typed is inside the code itself. It doesn't depend on a subscription or on us; it works as long as your link does.

  • No tracking, no redirects

Whoever scans it goes straight to your link, your WhatsApp or your network. Nothing passes through our servers and we count no scans.

  • No watermark

No logo of ours and no ads, on the code or on the print formats.

  • No sign-up

No email, no account. Open the page, make your code, take it with you.

  • Made in your browser

What you type, your Wi-Fi password and your logo are never uploaded anywhere.

How it works

  1. Choose what it opens

A link, your WhatsApp, your Wi-Fi, your contact card or your location.

  2. Type and adjust

The code updates as you type. Add your colours, your logo and a line like “See the menu”.

  3. Download or print

PNG, SVG or PDF, or a table tent, counter sign or sticker ready to print.

  4. Test it

Scan it with two or three different phones before printing a lot.

How big should I print it?

Rule of thumb: the code should be at least a tenth of the distance it will be scanned from.

With a logo, or a lot of data inside, go a little bigger.

Frequently asked questions

Does my QR code expire?

No. It's a static code: the link, number or network is written into the code itself. It doesn't pass through our servers, so it doesn't depend on you paying anything or on us still being around. It works as long as what you put inside works.

Can I change the link after printing it?

No. What's inside a static code can't be changed. If your link is going to change (the menu, the promotions), point the code at a page you control, like your website or your Google profile, and change what's on that page. Sites that do let you edit it do so by routing every scan through their servers: stop paying and your code stops working.

How big should I print it?

At least a tenth of the distance it will be scanned from: 5 cm on a table, 15 cm on a door seen from a metre and a half, and never under 2 × 2 cm. Keep the light margin around it (the download already has it) and test it before printing a lot.

Why won't my code scan?

It's almost always one of these: low contrast (the code goes dark on a light background), too small for the distance, no light margin around it, or printed on a glossy surface. Check the contents too: a link with a typo or a mistyped Wi-Fi password scans, but doesn't work.

Is it really free? What's the catch?

It's free and there's no catch. It's made by Carbono, a software studio, as part of Business Tools: free tools for local businesses. Making a QR code in your browser costs us nothing, so there's no reason to charge you or ask for your details. If you ever need custom software, that's what we do.

Can I see how many people scan it?

Not with this code, on purpose: counting scans means routing every person through a middleman server. If you want to measure visits, add UTM parameters to your link and check them in your site's analytics.
